The Illiterate Literates

Surpisingly, in todays times, I notice this major chunk of people who fall into this category.
The Illiterate Literates. The Uncivilized Civilians.

Do you know who these are?

They are the ones who:

Who open up the doors of their Mercs & spit on the road
Who cross carelessly in the middle of the road
Who break queues as casually as if it was their right
Who have no regard for civic sense
Who drive worse than the rickshaw drivers
Who abuse more than necessary
Who talk loudly rudely on their cell phones even in theatres
Who observe no lane discipline or traffic regulations
Who throw thrash just anywhere
Who litter the world with their dirty thoughts
this could go on & on..

basically, those who are well suited, wearing a crisp clean shirt, branded trousers/jeans, flashing an expensive cell phone, looking all set & hip, try & always in English...
yet are FILTHY to their soul.

They are graduates, well educated, often hailing from good family backgrounds,
But they dont remember a word of Civics,
they have no common sense,
they are often an environmental hazard,
they WASTE resources,
they are a NUISANCE!

Earlier, a certain segment of the society, was often "forgiven" for such behaviour, because they were truly illiterate & hence it was not expected of them to know, that their behaviour is wrong.

But when these so called literates, behave WORSE than the actual illiterates... thats when I call them the ILLITERATE LITERATES.
"padhe likhe anpadh ganwar"

These comprise of the Individuals, who often crib the most, but do nothing in their own deeds.
This is the exact population that does not benefit our contry in any way whatsoever.
These are not assets, but asses who are a big liability.

Those who keep saying: "Damn our country is very dirty, so filthy, look at USA" But will not even think or flinch before throwing or spitting on the road.

What should be done about such UNCIVILIZED CIVILIANS!!!

I believe I am no one to comment or commit.
"I do what I can & what I must"
So what can I do?
Well, I try NOT TO DO ANY OF THE THINGS MENTIONED ABOVE!
AND I maintain a general Common sense & Civic Sense!

Be Who You Are...

"Duniya me sabse bada rog,

Mere baare me kya kehenge log."

The riches that you seek,

Are all within you,

You are as u think, strong or weak,

Fear not, do what you must do.

Believe in yourself & just be who you are,

Follow your own path, dare to fly, YOU are the Star!

Vande Mataram! Jai Hind!

Namaste

Before we all celebrate our Independence day tomorrow, let us pause & think for a moment how well have utilized our Freedom in the last 1 year

For a bright, brilliant future we all hope & dream,
About our rights & freedom we scream,
But when the opportunity presents, we quitly slip in a note,
When the d-day come,we go on a holiday than vote,
Our country is definitely great,
Yet we choose to migrate,
Why do we suffer quietly as subjects when we are the true rulers of our kingdom,
To the hollow sheen of western influence, why have we sold our culture & freedom?

The Masked City Madness - Swine Flu hit Mumbai

The Swine flu is here - Believe it or not... but it is around...
But you know what else it has brought along with it? FEAR & PANIC.

Its very funny to see that inspite of 26th July & innumerable terrorist attacks, Mumbaikars have not learnt a single lesson in Panic Management.

Its quite intriguing to see this human behaviour reaction under stress & fear.

How else do you explain the phenomenal sales of regular surgical masks which offer no protection or immuntiy whatsoever to the said Swine flu or even regular flu!

As also, the opportunist behaviour of so many businessmen who are even capitalizing on these bad times by selling these masks at higher prices.

But, yes, like every time, in the recent past - the Media is really to blame for causing such a blatant panic rather than being responsible for education & awareness.

Have you seen the crowd of patients thronging various doctors clinics? Its unbelievable!

People who ordinarily never pop in a pill for a cold, are running to their nearest clinic like rabid dogs!

Does NO ONE read the papers?

Do you not know the ENTIRE list of Symptoms that regular flu & Swine flu share and ARE COMMON to both illnesses.

Have you not read that for you particular illness to be "suspected" to be Swine flu, you need to have
1. High Grade Fever more than 3 days
2. Rhinitis / Coryza / Running nose
3. Dry cough / throat irritation
4. Risk of exposure or Contact to definitely infected individual or area.

ALL these symptoms have to be present for it classify as a "probable case of Swine Flu"

Just presence of ANY one of these symptoms indicates regular Flu / Viral infection which is extremely common right now!

Besides, why do people forget that by going to such places, you are actually increasing Your Risk of exposure to an infected person, as WELL as, risking other peoples health by probably giving them yours.

Another thing, this once again is a fine example of how are "modern" lifestyle is bringing forth as many diseases as comforts.

Our low immunity & resistance can be attributed to our bad dietary habits & lack of physical exercise.
& it is well known now that Airconditioned office spaces & malls are the prime source of infection because of the stale air that circulates there.

Imagine, we all are living & working in such closed cages everyday!

This is just the start, there are many more such diseases to come.

P.S. How come when Swine Flu is heard of, everyone rushes to buy & wear a mask,
but when warned about AIDS and STDs no one rushes to buy Condoms?

Love Aaj Kal

Just saw this refreshing , young, delightful, fast, bubbly movies yesterday.

The 1st thought that comes across: What is Love? do we even understand love?

While the movies very rightly mocks the current generation for its frivolous behaviour. Casual approach to everything in life.
Somewhere deep down it also questions the approach of "going for the book by its cover", where we have lost the art of appreciating what is "inside" another person, we are being extremely superficial, extremely materialistic.
Somewhere the values, the culture is lost!

Also, for the commitment phobic generation a very nice message has been put across by Veer (Rish Kapoor), that love at 1st sight does exist and love can be an adventure, a roller coaster ride, btu commitment is such an outstanding virtue.

Imtiaz Ali sure has an amazing knack for story telling. Awesome direction, visuals & locales.

Breaking another social mould, is the projection that todays generation is capable of taking up less known jobs as a career choice. We, the current generation have the capability and potential to do path breaking deeds, all we need to do is focus. Dare to dream, dare to work hard for it and it will be yours. BELIEVE...in yourself.

Today, the young Indians are global indians, they span across every continent in the globe, inter-racial, inter-cultural interaction has increased tremedously, but, an Indian at heart, will always have India flowing in his blood. The deep rooted culture & values never fail.

An extremely feel good movie, with good music, nice choroeography, an a very nice take home message.

Yehi hai Love Aaj Kal, tu nahi to aur sahi, aur nahi to aur sahi...par, jise dil dhoond raha tha kya woh tum hi thi?

Bandra Worli Seeal Link - BWSL

On 1st July 2009, I was one the many many eager people who wanted to be one of the 1st people to traverse the Bandra Worli Sea Link.

This Historic & monumental Bridge, connecting Bandra & worli, in mumbai, is one of the largest in Asia.

I have been watching it under construction since 2 years now & finally on that day I got to drive on it.

It was Amazing, such a proud feeling, almost felt like those bridges we see in movies abroad. A very beautiful view of Mumbai.
The Bridge by itself is superb, though only half complete.

It is just a small insight to the way Mumbai is going to change. There is so much more on its way, so many more positive changes we can expect.

But you know what matters most? The positive change we need to bring in ourselves. The citizens of Mumbai. The residents. They need beautification from inside.

The pan spitting, rowdy, vandals, anti-social, rule breaking, corrupting kind of people need to change.

& hopefully, we will see a very different Mumbai in the coming years...

Three Cheers for the BWSL.
